Here’s what you’ll need to drive in SA
Driver Requirements
- Have a smartphone, mobile number and email address
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or otherwise have the right to work in Australia
- Have held an unrestricted Australian driver’s licence for at least 12 months
- Have an ABN and be GST-registered
- Hold a current Driver Accreditation
- Hold a valid Operator Accreditation
- Be listed as the insured driver on the insurance
Vehicle Requirements
Vehicles must meet the state government’s requirements and be in excellent condition, free of damage and decals. The vehicle must:
- be no more than eight years
- have a minimum of 4 doors
- seat a minimum of 4 passengers
- seat a maximum of 6 passengers
- not be an ex-taxi
- pass a vehicle inspection in the past 12 months
- be covered under a current Upgraded CTP insurance (class: 48, 98, 7, 58)
- be covered under a current third-party or comprehensive insurance
Document Requirements
- Profile Picture
You must submit a clear photo of yourself (in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format, at least 200 x 200 pixels). The image you submit will be displayed as your profile picture for riders to verify with you. - SA Driver’s Licence
You will need to submit a copy of your current driver’s licence. In addition, you must have held a full, unrestricted driver’s licence (or Temporary Driver’s Licence Receipt) in SA for six months. - Proof of ID
You will need to provide an alternative ID (other than your driver’s licence), such as a valid passport, Immi card, Australian or NZ birth certificate or citizenship certificate.
- Driver Accreditation (DA)
You will need to submit a current Driver Accreditation certificate. Please click here for more information about the DA, the steps involved, and relevant forms. - Operator Accreditation (OA)
You will need to submit a current Operator Accreditation certificate. Operator accreditation is required by any person responsible for running rideshare services in South Australia.

- Vehicle Insurance
You will need to submit proof that your vehicle is appropriately insured. In addition, your vehicle must have current third-party damage or comprehensive insurance cover, on which you should be listed as an insured driver. - CTP Upgrade
You will need to upgrade your compulsory third-party insurance to the correct insurance class (class 48, 98, 7 and 58), and you will need to submit proof of that.
- Vehicle Inspection

Signage Requirements
South Australia
The sticker must be displayed on the rear windscreen on the driver’s side. Please note that you must also show the vehicle inspection sticker on the front windscreen on the passenger’s side.

After your registration is approved, you will receive 2 x self-adhesive Turvy Stickers by post. In addition, most states and territories’ regulations require that you display signs indicating that the vehicle is being used to provide passenger services.
